vume How to correctly prepare bike for wintering line
Who of us does not know the problem of the spring start of the bike after wintering in the garage? This article is for those who care for and love his bike, cherish it, and care about its “health” and a high residual value, even after years of operation.

There are a number of things that must be done compulsory for your bike’s sake for winter period. To begin with, before sending your bike on “winter holidays” you must replace oil. It is absolutely necessary as with the course of time, the motionless cold oil spreads on the top and lower factions which are deposited on the bottom of the crankcase, and if the oil is dirty, they could even block the pass of the oiling system and oil filter. In addition, exhaust gas beads dissolved in the oil provoke active corrosive processes on metal parts which are in contact with such oil.

If you use synthetic, it’s not recommended to change the type of oil for the winter with a view to economy: mixing synthetic with mineral (it’s impossible completely run the oil off, 10% remains in the engine) can cause sponging effect which extremely negatively affect cylinders face work.

The most practical way to prevent from rust the inside part of the tank and the rubber of carburettors is the following: to fill a full tank with fuel stabilizer for winter. Practice shows that in 95% of cases it is enough to ensure a smooth start of the bike in spring.

By its very nature, petrol, as any other hydrocarbons, is chemically unstable, and after a while (depending on quality) rots, it is difficult to start a bike, at least until the old petrol from the float chambers will not go off through cylinders.

Do not forget to oil the chain for winter period. If it is not difficult it would be better, at least once more to sprinkle the chain during winter in order the rings do not dry up and fired the oiling.

Also a good idea is to put plastic bags or an oiled piece of cloth on the exhaust box. It is done in order to prevent the entry of wet and cold air in the exhaust system and beyond, in the combustion chamber, to the valves and their seats.
