vume Pit Bike – Earlier and Now line
Another widely spread craze in the US is when the adults ride the small (50 cc) bikes, called mini bike or Pit Bike. Earlier, adults rode just for fun in the mini jumping parks (pits, hence its name: Pit Bike). Gradually, people began chasing each other.

These inexpensive mini bikes originally made for children are remade in adult’s Pit Bikes by means of setting higher rudders, improved suspension, exhaust pipe and plastic. Among another "improvement" should be noticed - bored-out engine of 75-147 cc and enforced frame. There is no standard definition on what to consider as a Pit Bike but normal requirements are -12" front and 10" rear wheels. Till now none of the "Big Five" (Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki, KTM) is not offering or lunching ready made Pit Bikes, however, some companies sell Pit Bike models. For example, Pitster Pro, SDG, and Sikk MX are manufacturers of the Pit-Bikes models.

Mini Bikes’ hobbies were born in Southern California, and began to quickly gain popularity in other parts of the United States and around the world. Pit Bikes Racing take place on short tracks, in the analogy with a mini-moto, Kart, etc. Drag Racers use motocross or street equipment.

Typical Pit Bike is equipped with a 107 cube and 4-speed engine, that can develop the power of around 8 power horses at 8000 rpm. Electric starter motor is a Must because not every child can run this engine with the elastic kick. Both wheels are equipped with hydraulic disc brakes, tyres are - 2,75-12 front and 3,0-10 the rear. The suspension of course, is hydraulic, often with a few adjustments. The front fork and rear suspension pendulum- are made of aluminium alloy.

Dry-weight is 55-65 kg, the wheelbase is less than a meter. The attractiveness of ХR50 models is that they offer tremendous opportunities for tuning (ranging from the replacement of individual parts, till the increasing of the capacity volume up to 125). Industry of tuning for XR50 and its Asian clones is enormous, and it is developing along with the advancement of the road motorcycling.

Recently was announced a new Pit Bike model - Yamaha TTR50E. In appearance and technical specifications, it is nearly the same as Honda’s bestseller.
